Here’s a revealing review from a client of mine and pretty much sums up what I hear from everyone:
I signed up for a three month membership through e-Harmony. I was sent initially several matches. Surprisingly of the ones i was slightly interested in none responded to requests for communication. Of the few that i did make initial contact with it was terribly obvious during our first date that we had no chemistry and our personalities were oil and water!
Here comes the good part. I let my subscription expire…I didn’t cancel it. I still get matches in my email even though my account is not active! Which of course makes me think..hmmm….of all the supposed matches they sent me I wonder just how many did not have an active account????
I made a very nasty phone call to e-Harmony who coughed up a free three month extension. I have gotten total squat for matches. Again the same scenario…no communication, matches that are totally out of line. I am sure that when these three months expire then I will suddenly get a few matches worth looking at in the hopes that I will renew my membership.
I plan to call and ask “What percentage of your members report a successful long term relationship after being matched by your system?” and “What percentage of us report that your service is garbage and a waste of our money”??? I would also like to know if the commercial engagements and marriages are actors or actual matches through e-Harmony?
Regardless…it is sad and unfortunate that e-Harmony is commercializing on the fact of life that we all need and want someone special to love and cherish.
Save your time/money, avoid e-Harmony and stick with top dating sites like Match and Perfect Match.

Hi, I've been a matchmaker for many years and have experience with just about every dating site out there. I have thoroughly reviewed and rated the best
I agree, save your money, and try a more reputable site!
Was anyone else surprised at the quality of men (or women) on this site? I’d love to hear another take on this….
They sent me 50 matches. Based purely on personality, most were boring and not a good match for me. It gets really interesting when you factor looks into the equation. I’d consider 2 of the 50 men they sent me to be attractive–that’s 4% folks! I’m not expecting these men to look like Brad Pitt, but I was surprised at the number of creepy looking men. Most of the men looked years older than the age posted, and not at all socially adept.
That “get to know the person from the inside out” bit just doesn’t hold up in the real world.
I think I could approach 50 strangers and get better results!
I, too, have become one of their the most recent victims.
I paid for a one month subscription to try it out and of course it ended up being a waste of my time and money. I thought, well, I only did it for one month so just chuck it up to “life’s experiences” and “a lesson learned”.
Anyways, after the month went by and receiving matches that were not in anyway compatible, I realized that they still continued my subscription. Rather than fight and get all stressed out, I decided to pay for another month (which they had already charged me anyways) and wrote them twice stating how disappointed I was at being charged an additional month plus and $20.00 LATE FEE (CAN YOU IMAGINE!)..Unbelievable!!!
Well, I’m still receiving matches. I don’t know why, but my next step is to report them to the better business bureau and contacting my attorney. THIS IS ABSURD!!! I’m sure that there are other match sites more ethical than EHARMONY…
Besides splitting my sides laughing at some of these comments, I feel your pain.
I signed at eharmony up for 1 month. I always print out the sign up AND cancellation info any time I sign up for anything on the internet, so I had the information some of you are seeking.
As it turned out I got a new CC# before the expiration of the month, so I do not know if they would have tried an unauthorixed charge or not. FYI it is called an ‘unauthorized charge’ at your bank and if you pay attention and are timely it will be reversed. Just go to the bank and sign the paperwork, no charge.
I do have to say this, shame on any of you that did not read the fine print. Always, and I mean always copy any agreement and have it blown up if the font is too small.
I am struck by the number of you that are saying, “Somebody should do something”, or “Somebody should report them.” You are the “somebodys”
All of what has been said is of course true. After much effort, I was actually able to track down a man that I was “matched” with long after I resigned from the site. It ends up he is still a paying member and didn’t seem to care that he had been matched with basically a nonexistant person.(me a non member)
My reason in trying to track down anyone, (I even put ads in Craigs List to find any former member) was to affirm my suspicians of what is going on so I could report them to the Attorney Generals Office, Division of Consumer Complaints, as well as the BBB, and any federal agency that applied.
What I would really like to do is start a class action suit. Their practices are fraudulent, it’s bait and switch, which is illegal. They do not have the capability to deliver what they promised etc.
I am going forward with this.
As I understand Yahoo personals payed a hugh fine a number of years ago for having employees write bogus letters, and for having the same profiles under differant names and states with the same picture.
Get active folks and stand up for yourself.
