The eharmony process is much better than the "free" sites and definitely matches you with people of similar personality type. The people I met were very nice and I liked them as people. I'm currently dating someone I met there and we'll see where things go.

I met my wife on EHarmony. I am 50 years old and have been exposed to a great deal of this planet and dozens of cultures. I was introduced to with my wife in 2007, Me in U.S.A. and her in China. My former wife passed away in 2003 and by 2007 I was at a point in my life where most common social means of meeting women did not appeal to me.

I tried several online sites just to satisfy a curiosity that I had after hearing a news report that most online "dating" sites were in fact a scam that involved computer matching and even a computer corresponding back and forth to potential "matches". That was what I found to be true after trying several free sites. Bahoo and a few supposed christian sites, then I tried Match.com (chemestry.com, same thing) which was the first one that I had paid for membership, and found it to be sort of fun because I learned early on, that it was that sort of scam, so I sort of played it as I would a video game.

Searching, using odd personal search criteria that are very specific to the matching person should be, ex. 4' tall 100 lbs green eyes... not that I was looking for a match with those criteria, but that's when I realized that almost all of the "matches" that were directed to me were not even current members of the site, but that everyone that had ever been a member of their site were never deleted from the pool of possible matches. It was very obvious that there were many fictitious profiles as well.

I searched many profiles and found that there were as many as 25 supposed "matches" with identical personal profiles, verbatim, only showing that they were from a different city and having a different photo, I saved them on my computer because the next day(they would be deleted from my profile page, where I saved them). Undoubtedly information from a former subscribing member that had unknowingly donated their photo or personal information, and paid too!.

I had already been a member of EHarmony then and found it to be the only legitimate site of all that I had tried. There were no signs of that sort of practice there.

I did notice that many people would have a very limited range of distance that they were willing to travel for a potential partner and myself found that being very honest with myself about what I think makes a good partner is easy to do, but it's not easy to trust someone on a dating website with your personal information after that experience.

I really feel that Eharmony served me well and after my subscription was up, they didn't bother me too much.

I also feel very confident that they are really a legitimate company and do not play those tricks on their customers profiles.

No matter what site that you try, be very careful with your photos, especially pretty women, because I can assure you from my personal experience, that some of these sites will use your photos or whatever you give them to misrepresent you as an active member on their site.

Actually, by the time that I was completely and thoroughly disgusted with Match.com, and I still had 1 month of membership left and I would put strange personal descriptions of what I was seeking or I would change my screen name just to see what the computer generated site would respond with, and found that at that point, the degenerates that do pay a little attention, when the computer gets stumped, were actually changing my profile to depict that I was gay and several similar sophomoric pranks. That kind of activity made me wonder if my financial information... was secure, but I have not had any problems.

Advice, only show your photos to people that you are seriously considering meeting. Some people only look at the pictures on the sub par sites but EHarmony really goes deeper than that. Be honest, but cautious! Good luck. EHarmony good! Match.com Scam!

My wife and I met on eHarmony. We were in fact the first date each of us had through the service. Each of us got matched with dozens of others and communicated, but she was on the top of my list at every level. In person she was all I had come to know and more. We married one year later. If both are honest and have a good idea of who they are EHarmony works great.
