Lots of people, guys and girls, recommend Plenty of Fish online dating (which I dub Plenty-Of-Flesh) because it’s free. I’ve been a member there twice now, and I haven’t been impressed either time.
The site places a lot of emphasis on photos, which has led to people judging one another not by their messages, but solely by looks. I’m not impressed with the forum moderator either, who has a firm yet obnoxious and stuck-up attitude to posts that raise questionable suggestions issues, even with the site.
Many of the people there have been rude and/or full of hot air, both in the forums and through messaging. Even the friendliest of messages went ignored - the sent messages list proved extremely helpful in finding out just where they were going.
Plenty of Fish advertises itself as a dating site, which is my biggest disappointment: the only people who’d enjoy Plenty of Fish are the average loud, outgoing people who already have “great” lives and have no intention of being serious.
As with most other places I’d suggest someone experience it for themselves, if only for them to reach their own conclusion. I’ve had much better results with Match and Perfect Match.

Could someone please explain what average means. Before on-line dating, I never cared or understood what 6’s, 8’s or even size 12 were. all I did know was that I liked what I saw when I saw it.
As far as using on-line dating for booty calls, it seems to me from my experience that if I was looking for a sexual encounter I surely would not use the internet for that when the bar scene is much more convenient. It does take looks and personality without the disguise of unrealistic pictures and deceitful profiles ( did I mention how I invinted sliced bread?)to be successful hooking up at a bar.
I must admit that P.O.F. like all dating sites has it’s limitations. What I do find humorous is the favorite option. Girls wear them like it was a badge of honor and if she shows or says anything sexual, she will have 100’s of admirers that select her as a favorite.
finally, I feel that it is silly to post a profile without a picture, looks do matter initially and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Want to be realistic then keep the camera by the bed and take a picture when you wake up as opposed to pulling out the camera when you are having a good hair day.

For #83 - they “stopped corresponding because someone better came along?” Then why be bitter, you know why they left. They were not insincere or not really looking for someone, they just didn’t want you once they knew you better. But someone absolutely great WILL, you just haven’t met her yet, whether online, walking in a mall, whatever. If it was easy to bump into the right person who really gets and wants you, then there would be no need for these sites.
I’ve had a POF profile before…. Of course they have filters on that site, but who is going to put Intimate Encounter on their profile? NO ONE!! I have met nothing but sleeze balls on that site! and I’m tired of it! So I just closed it down…. If anyone wants to get a one night stand, that is the site to go to.
