Lots of people, guys and girls, recommend Plenty of Fish online dating (which I dub Plenty-Of-Flesh) because it’s free. I’ve been a member there twice now, and I haven’t been impressed either time.
The site places a lot of emphasis on photos, which has led to people judging one another not by their messages, but solely by looks. I’m not impressed with the forum moderator either, who has a firm yet obnoxious and stuck-up attitude to posts that raise questionable suggestions issues, even with the site.
Many of the people there have been rude and/or full of hot air, both in the forums and through messaging. Even the friendliest of messages went ignored - the sent messages list proved extremely helpful in finding out just where they were going.
Plenty of Fish advertises itself as a dating site, which is my biggest disappointment: the only people who’d enjoy Plenty of Fish are the average loud, outgoing people who already have “great” lives and have no intention of being serious.
As with most other places I’d suggest someone experience it for themselves, if only for them to reach their own conclusion. I’ve had much better results with Match and Perfect Match.

Why on this earth do people use POF is beyond logic. The dating part of it is dreadful. Most of the people you will find in there are just too cheap to a small amount per month to meet posters who are actually interested in meeting others.
Because it’s free, you get liars, crooks, thieves and even sexual predators. All they need is software to hide their IP’s and move on to their victims.
By the way, if you were banned, just download any software to change or hide your IP address and you will be back in as they cant possibly see who you are or from for that fact. Just make sure you eliminated their cookies before doing so.
As of my past experiences with POF, I have not met one person who was even remotely close to be honest. That’s probably why one will read so many profiles that claims that they are no longer interested in meeting people from POF and that they use it just for the Forums.
Awww the FORUMS! What a load of crap that is! Forums controlled by moderators who are extremely biased in regards to who will get ban or not.
In a past experienced, I saw that OP literally insult a poster on many occasions and once the poster had enough, he called the OP an idiot. Guess what? The poster was banned! How stupid is that?
I sent an email a few days later asking the reasons for this moderator to ban people while some whom obviously should’ve been before, and he just answered that rules are rules with a link to the site.
This is a gestapo type of forums. They are VERY selective in who stays and who goes not to mention the little fact that some looses their complete profile without any explanations whatsoever. If you were in contact with someone, you just lost her or him.
Also you will notice in the forums that it’s always the same posts that keeps on coming back over and over and over again. Why do people continue to use them is just mind boggling.
Let’s not forget the fact that POF can delete a post or better yet, the thread without any warning whatsoever and even worst…NO REASONS!
I truly dont understand that a service (even if free) can delete anyone’s profile at any time without reasons. One cant supply a service and play God with it…as far as I am concerned anyway.
Perhaps there’s internet regulations out there that would prevent the Nazi owner and his SS troops/moderators…perhaps from different countries? Anyway, I think it’s worth checking and if they are out there, slap POF with them and get that site out of service.
Stay away from Plentyoffish people. I promise you that you will NEVER get anything other than frustration out of it.
I’ve had a few bad problems with PoF. I too have experienced the fascist nature of the moderators, one of which I protested against (and of course, that too is against the rules), and was banned from the forums. My major problem is that I can’t email certain women, while the message initially says it is sent, as soon as you check your sent box, it was never sent. I got the run around from the mods, with them constantly telling me it was the restriction filter (yet none of the women had restrictions that would prevent me from contacting them - and when that is the case, the site specifically states you are unable to contact them). No one seemed to care. No one would admit there MIGHT be a problem - you’d swear you were listening to the government! Ticketoride is the guy that blocked me on the email after I started asking about the problem in private. And Yayawhatever banned me from the forums after I complained about ticketoride’s behavior, not to mention giving me the same crap about filters and other garbage. They don’t even listen to you. I deleted my account. I got tired of that crap.
Terrible site. Although free, the site moderators are some of the most pompous, rude individuals I have ever had the misfortune to come across, their photo rules are ridiculous and they should really consider re-naming the site, Plenty of Freaks.
