Plenty of FishLots of people, guys and girls, recommend Plenty of Fish online dating (which I dub Plenty-Of-Flesh) because it’s free. I’ve been a member there twice now, and I haven’t been impressed either time.

The site places a lot of emphasis on photos, which has led to people judging one another not by their messages, but solely by looks. I’m not impressed with the forum moderator either, who has a firm yet obnoxious and stuck-up attitude to posts that raise questionable suggestions issues, even with the site.

Many of the people there have been rude and/or full of hot air, both in the forums and through messaging. Even the friendliest of messages went ignored - the sent messages list proved extremely helpful in finding out just where they were going.

Plenty of Fish advertises itself as a dating site, which is my biggest disappointment: the only people who’d enjoy Plenty of Fish are the average loud, outgoing people who already have “great” lives and have no intention of being serious.

As with most other places I’d suggest someone experience it for themselves, if only for them to reach their own conclusion. I’ve had much better results with Match and Perfect Match.

  1. User Review # 137

I read your reviews and I agree you get what you pay for. Plenty of Fish in my book stands for PLENTY OF FOOLS.

I don’t know why I have not been thrown off as I have told them on more than one occassion things that I found undesirable especially the Male Chauvinist attitude and the way woman are expected to cater to the guys.

I personally think NOT ALL but many of these men are losers from the get up and will never grow up. The thing that irks me is that the attitude is “It’s a mans world and too bad, so sad, if you aren’t into rude, spoiled brats, and that is being complimentary.

At least on the sites where you pay, you get better quality people, sincere and educated, but the good ones are few and far between.

I find it sad that if your not into the bar scene and into traditional values your basically have no way to go.

POF has its flaws Ok, it has a LOT of flaws.

    1) Moderation without explanation. They don’t even use a menu selection form rejection to let you know even basically why they decide anything. Not only that, but they don’t care. Not one bit and they say so. They say read the rules and leave it at that. And when you say you did and cannot figure out what rule you violated, they don’t reply back.

    2) How they pick their moderators is a mystery. They run the gambit from insane to reasonable. One moderator will ban people if they don’t agree with her and other times ban them for asking her ban over-the-top offensive people. What?!

    3) They currently offer a Jungian personality test and then give the wrong types that would be a good match for you according to Jungian theory. And it isn’t because that is hard to figure out. Just the opposite as in literally just the opposite of your personality type. If you’re an ISFJ, your mate match should be ENTP. If its ESFP, your match is INTJ. Yup, that easy and yet POF gives the wrong ones. They’re clueless and probably setting people up for bad falls.

    4) They say they do not allow repetition in their forums but you only need the slightest degree of change and they let it stand. The key is just write a lot. Unfortunately, it doesn’t take long for you to notice the same thread topics being recycled over and over and over again.

    5) Beware of out-of-date photographs. Assume any you see are at least ten years old, if not older.

    6) Check to see if they have had their profile reviewed. If so, read the thread and try to get an idea of what they had originally said. Some of the profile reviewers are excellent (Hot Snowman being one of them) but if they follow his advice, is their profile really reflecting themselves or Hot Snowman?

    7) POF get-togethers should be called POF swing-togethers. When I arrived at one, I saw one woman giving a bj to a guy in a corner, two guys masturbating each other under the table, two women comparing vibrators like they were blenders at an appliance store, and a married couple asking every woman in the room if she would like to go home with them. Oh, and I hope you like to drink. Everyone was doing shots.

I’d love to find out what the women are like at POF. I’d also like to see what’s in the forums. I’d even like to email correspond and chat with a few. But, I’m not given much of a chance. My profile rarely exists for more than a day! As soon as I say Hello to someone, boom! Within a few hours my profile is history!

I’ve abided by all their rules and regulations meaning I’ve not uploaded any risque pics, harassed anyone, misrepresented anything in my profile, misrepresented anything in the messages I’ve sent, etc. And, yet, my profile has been deleted several times with absolutely NO explanation. So I tried Technical Support. What a joke! No reply at all.

Avoid this site at all costs. You definitely get what you pay for.
