Lots of people, guys and girls, recommend Plenty of Fish online dating (which I dub Plenty-Of-Flesh) because it’s free. I’ve been a member there twice now, and I haven’t been impressed either time.
The site places a lot of emphasis on photos, which has led to people judging one another not by their messages, but solely by looks. I’m not impressed with the forum moderator either, who has a firm yet obnoxious and stuck-up attitude to posts that raise questionable suggestions issues, even with the site.
Many of the people there have been rude and/or full of hot air, both in the forums and through messaging. Even the friendliest of messages went ignored - the sent messages list proved extremely helpful in finding out just where they were going.
Plenty of Fish advertises itself as a dating site, which is my biggest disappointment: the only people who’d enjoy Plenty of Fish are the average loud, outgoing people who already have “great” lives and have no intention of being serious.
As with most other places I’d suggest someone experience it for themselves, if only for them to reach their own conclusion. I’ve had much better results with Match and Perfect Match.

POF is a joke and a waste of time. Most of the women on there have emotional issues and aren’t serious about dating. They’re either emotionally unstable, have volatile personalities or a major attitude problem. These are from the more attractive ones. Rarely can you engage in a decent, intelligent conversation with any of them. After a few e-mail exchnages you never hear from them again. Blown off. How rude is that? A lot of them can’t spell even if their lives depended on it. They state in their profiles that they don’t want headgames or drama. Guess what? They happen to be the biggest headgamers and drama queens around. They state that they want a nice, decent man when in reality they’re looking out for Joe Cool Bad Ass. POF is the biggest collection of the most rude, disrespectful, callous, flippant, and mean woman anywhere on the internet. It’s not just POF where these neurotic headcases gravitate, but free sites like Date Hook Up, OK Cupid, and Matchdoctor have more than their fair share of these women as well. Some of them I wouldn’t want to meet in a dark alley, being the monsters that they are. They may have model like appearances, but have the mentality of Courtney Love. I’ll agree with Mr. Tibbs that you wouldn’t want to show them off to your family and friends. Don’t compare yourself with these other woman. They’re more screwed up than you think. I’ve had better luck in getting dates from sites like Match, True, and the Yahoo Personals. Don’t waste your time on these free sites ever.
My experience on POF was a bust. I literally busted one guy who was talking to me on two different profiles! I find that most men’s photos are outdated. There should be a rule that any photo over a year old should be banned. POFers should ask for a recent photo, people can change drastically in a year and who in thier right mind would answer “yes” to Do you use drugs? I found an extremely handsom fellow who upon meeting him discovered that was ravaged by his cocaine addiction, both physically and mentally, I wish I could warn other women not to waste thier time on these “collectors”. I am not bitter just disappointed. I have had better luck at the gas station down the street from my apartment, yes,yes , I met someone there!
These are the fish that someone has thown back in the pond. There are quite a few attractive women on there in my opinion, but once you meet them in person, the illusion is quickly shattered. They have compulsive, emotional or sexual issues galore.
Rarely, do you find any of them can carry on a conversation and you’d never introduce them to your parents or take them out with your friends.
Very few professional, athletic and outgoing types.
Women teachers tend to be the best choice.
